All About Kristen

I am the Biology Facilities Manager for Howell Science, SciTech, and Flanagan buildings. Although I am new to facilities management, I have worked within a laboratory setting for about 27 years, most of which was spent in research labs. As such, I understand that successful research is dependent upon a safe and adequate environment. I enjoy solving problems, paying attention to detail, and making sure the facilities are ready for the work happening inside of them. Further, I value the teamwork approach to ensure smooth daily operations. Overall, I aim for practical solutions that make everyone’s day a little easier.

I am originally from Kinston, NC, and currently live in Grifton, NC, with my husband and two boys. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and making the most of the outdoors. I love hiking in the mountains, where I can enjoy the scenery and a little time to recharge, as well as relaxing days at the beach. Whether exploring a mountain trail or enjoying the sound of the ocean, I appreciate the simple moments that bring balance to a busy life.

For me, the most rewarding part of my career is knowing that the work that I do behind the scenes helps others do their best work every day—and I bring that same appreciation for people, relationships, and meaningful experiences to life outside of work.
