Tessie Sherod

I work in Academic Services for the Department of Biology at East Carolina University, where I enjoy assisting students and faculty and helping things run smoothly behind the scenes. One of my favorite parts of my job is being a resource for students and helping them navigate the different steps of their academic journey. I believe that a friendly face, a little encouragement, and a willingness to help can make a big difference in someone’s day.

I am an Eastern North Carolina native, and I have always enjoyed connecting with people and helping others. I try to bring a positive attitude, a caring personality, and a little fun to the workplace while making sure things get done. Outside of ECU, my favorite role is being a mom. I am also a creative entrepreneur and the owner of Kustom Kreations by Tess, where I get to express my creative side through custom apparel, gifts, and personalized items. I am very active in my church and community and enjoy finding ways to serve and encourage others.

When I’m not working, you can usually find me crafting, working on a new creative idea, spending time with family and friends, being involved at church, or making memories with my daughter. I believe in working hard, treating people with kindness, enjoying life, and finding reasons to smile along the way. Whether I’m helping a student, creating something new, or spending time with the people I love, I try to bring positivity and a helping spirit wherever I go.
