Course Registration Help: BIOL 2110/11, 2140/41, 2150/51

Please read all the details below:

Banner will enforce all of the catalog prerequisites (including the GPA requirement) for the following courses: BIOL 2140, 2141, 2150, 2151, 2110 and 2111.

  • Check the course prerequisites as listed on the ECU catalog.
  • No MANUAL or BANNER wait list will exist for these courses; registration will be first come, first serve
  • If your ECU GPA is below a 2.75, Banner will prohibit registration for BIOL 2140
    • After grades post for the current term, if your ECU GPA rises to above a 2.75, Banner will allow registration
  • If you are currently enrolled or registered for BIOL 2140/41, at ECU, Banner will allow you to pre-register for BIOL 2150/51 without a final grade.
  • If you earn a C- or below in BIOL 2140/41, Banner will prohibit your registration for BIOL 2150/51.
  • Our office will run reports to verify all students enrolled in these courses meet the GPA and final grade requirement after grades are updated for each term.  Our office will drop students who no longer meet the requirements and notify the students and their advisors.
  • If you are planning on obtaining prerequisites outside of ECU, complete the override form below.
    • Please check the Course Equivalency database to make sure the course you are anticipating on taking transfers to ECU as the correct prerequisite.
    • Please have your registration record for the prerequisite course at the transfer institution ready before you fill out the override form.
    • If you are anticipating on completing the prerequisite of BIOL 2150/51 outside of ECU please understand the following:
      • Students are encouraged to take both anatomy and physiology courses at the same institution for the continuity of course content.
      • If the transfer course is listed as 1XXX, 2XXX or not listed in the Course Equivalency database, students should submit a syllabus via the Course Re-evaluation Form
      • If you have not received your final grade for the transfer course, you must fill out the Override Form linked below.

Banner will enforce the prerequisite requirement.

Banner does not recognize substitutions made in Degreeworks.  It is looking for the exact course as listed in the catalog prerequisites.  For example, CHEM 1XXX substituted as CHEM 1120 in Degreeworks does not fulfill the prerequisite CHEM 1120.  If this situation applies to you, please complete the Override Form below.

Banner will enforce the corequisite requirement.

If you are receiving the Prerequisite and Test Score error but you have all the prerequisites as stated in the catalog, it is likely because you are not registering for the corequisite simultaneously.

Please add the CRN for the lecture and then the CRN for the lab to your worksheet.  Once you have both CRNs on your worksheet you can submit changes.  Lecture and Lab must be registered simultaneously.

First Semester, Transfer Students

First semester, transfer students with an ECU GPA of 0.0 will need to speak with their advisor before registration otherwise, an error will occur during registration.

Troubleshooting Help

If you are having registration difficulty with these courses and you have met the following criteria, please email your name, Banner ID, course number(s) and a screenshot of the error message to BUG@ecu.edu.

  • you meet all prerequisite requirements
  • you are registering for the co-requisite simultaneously
  • there are no time conflicts with your academic schedule, wait-listed courses, or lecture/lab courses you are adding
  • Visit Common Registration Errors for a list of common errors and how to resolve errors.
  • Prerequisites are pulled from Degreeworks.  If you are registered for the prerequisite course during a summer term at ECU, your advisor will need to refresh your Degreeworks in order to allow you to register for the next course in the fall.
