Withdraw Requests
Course Withdraw Policy and Process
You can freely modify your schedule during the course adjustment period which begins when your registration window opens and closes at 5:00 pm on the 5th day of classes for full-term fall and spring semesters (please refer to the ECU academic calendar for specific dates and all other terms). Courses removed from schedules during the course adjustment period do not count towards allotted withdrawal credits.
After the course adjustment period ends, you can choose to withdraw from a course. You may withdraw from up to 16 s.h. during your undergraduate education at ECU, as specified in the University catalog. Please consult with your advisor if you have questions or concerns regarding withdrawing from a course. It is strongly recommended to consult with your course instructor and advisor before initiating a withdrawal.
To initiate a course withdrawal during the withdrawal timeframe, please follow the Course Drops/Withdrawal Policy as outlined on the Registrar’s Office website by using the link below.
Corequisite Course Withdrawal Details
Some Biology courses contain lecture and lab components that are mandatory corequisites that may not withdrawn independently from each other. For those with mandatory lecture and lab corequisites, you must withdraw from both the lecture and lab. Please check the “view courses” link below for a list of Biology courses that have mandatory corequisites and courses that can be withdrawn independent of one another.
Exceptions to Withdraw from Corequisites Courses
For students who are taking BIOL 1100/01 or BIOL 1200/01 only to fulfill general education science requirements, extenuating circumstances can be considered for withdrawing from the lecture and remaining in the lab. This does not apply to biology or biochemistry majors and minors.
To request an exception to the corequisite withdrawal policy for BIOL 1100 or BIOL 1200 lecture while remaining in the corequisite BIOL 1101 or BIOL 1201 labs, please fill out the withdrawal request form linked below.
If you are planning to withdraw from any other courses, please follow the Course Drops/Withdrawal Policy as outlined on the Registrar’s Office website.
