Two biology faculty recognized at ECU’s 2023 Research and Scholarship Awards Ceremony

Congratulations to Drs. Rachel Gittman and Dr. Jean-Luc Scemama for being recognized at this year’s ceremony. Dr. Gittman received ECU’s Scholarship of Engagement Award because of her outstanding ability to engage the public with her research efforts on coastal ecosystems and then translate that research into scientific publications, public action, and education. Dr. Jean-Luc Scemama was recognized for his efforts (along with individuals from the Departments of Chemistry and Physiology) that led to the development of a patent on the use of sucralose for the cryopreservation of blood.
