FAQ for Incoming Biology LLC Students

Can we apply after the deadline?
Although decisions on acceptance will be made by April 1st, if space is still available we will accept late applications. However, all BIOL LLC contracts must be signed before June 1st per Campus Living policy.

When do we move in?
Biology LLC students move into their assigned dorm rooms a day before general ECU move-in day at no cost. Move-ins are usually from 12:00pm-5:00pm, the week before the first day of classes in the Fall.

How do I pick a roommate?

You can only room with other BIOL LLC participants. After signing your contract, you will be invited to join the BIOL LLC Canvas site for the 2025-2026 academic year. Please be sure to accept the Canvas invitation to access important information and resources. We encourage you to participate actively in the discussion board to connect with your peers. If you find a potential roommate through these interactions, we would be happy to facilitate pairing arrangements.

How can I access My College Roomie?

Campus Living requires the following criteria to be met before registering students for My College Roomie:

  • A signed BIOL LLC contract
  • A signed housing contract
  • And confirmed down payment on a dorm room

Once Campus Living has registered you with My College Roomie you will be able to log in.

After you log in, the system will ask you numerous questions about your preferences – please be as honest as possible to get the best roommate match. You will also need to indicate that you are part of the BIOL LLC.

Once you have selected and matched with a roommate, you and your future roommate will need to email the BIOL LLC program director, Dr. Ed Stellwag (stellwage@ecu.edu) indicating your match and it will be recorded with Campus Living.

What happens if I change my major?
Participation in the Biology LLC requires you to be an intended Biology or Biochemistry major. Changing your major revokes your participation in the program. You may also be removed from the designated course sections.

Can I double major?
Yes, you are allowed to double major. However, satisfying the requirements for your Biology or Biochemistry major is required to participate in the program.

When do I register for classes?
Upon acceptance to the program, the Biology Department will be assigning you to advisors specifically associated with our department. These advisors will be your primary point of contact for all advising and scheduling needs. Biology will be registering you for the major-specific core classes that are required for your participation in the BIOL LLC. Therefore, you should not self-register for these designated classes. You may need to register for additional courses as recommended by your advisor.

Please do not modify the designated courses including the course date or time without written permission from the program director. Once your schedule has been set, changing your schedule without authorization is grounds to be dismissed from BIOL LLC.

Can I room with my friends who are not in Ballard?
You are not able to room with someone outside the Ballard. The purpose of the BIOL LLC is that you live with other BIOL LLC members in order to build a sense of community and grow a support system.

When do I get to see my room?
On day 2 of orientation, you will be allowed to see a model of your future room in Ballard East.
