Doctoral student Chris Moore wins two awards to fund his research!

As part of his dissertation, Moore is testing whether parasites can be used as indicators for the presence of their hosts in different shoreline environments (natural and artificial). However, many coastal communities also use cost-effective “hybrid” shorelines with a combination of natural and artificial features. With support from Sigma Xi and SICB, Moore and his adviser, Dr. April Blakeslee, will sample these hybrid areas to determine how effective they are at promoting biodiversity relative to shorelines with complex natural habitat.
